Fukuoka Center for Overseas Commerce in America (FCOCA) provides free expansion and relocation assistance and partner matching services to companies throughout North America interested in taking advantage of the market opportunities in Western Japan. FCOCA is a division of the Government of Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, and our services are completely FREE.
We can arrange partnerships, help you initiate business transactions, and introduce your products or services to Fukuoka-based companies. We can also assist you with locating the suitable office space, personnel, and professional services needed to expand your business in Western Japan. Financial incentives are also available to qualifying companies.
Rudy Nakaya
Executive Director
Rudy became Executive Director of FCOCA in April 2010. Before joining FCOCA, Rudy worked for 5 years in the Investment Promotion and General Policy Planning Divisions of the Fukuoka Prefectural Government. Prior to 2005, Rudy was in charge of fund raising for a leading investment bank in Tokyo, where he also traded fixed income, structured bonds, and derivatives for institutional and corporate investors in Japan.
Marc Musteric
Director of Business Development
Marc guides FCOCA’s business development activities and research on US business and technology trends and facilitates marketing efforts by Fukuoka companies in the US. He has worked with the Fukuoka Prefectural Government in various roles since 2002. Marc is also President and Co-Founder of Ovient, a professional communication skills training firm in Silicon Valley.
Mari Watanabe
Mari is FCOCA’s Web and office administrator and guides our social media activities. Mari has never been to Fukuoka, but she is now one of the most active Fukuoka evangelists in the world.
Makoto Abe
Business Advisor
Makoto applies his extensive cross-border business consulting background in the semiconductor and electronics industries to FCOCA’s research and business development activities. Makoto is General Manager at InfoTech Associates, a consulting firm for Japan – US businesses, and a business advisor for JETRO San Francisco.
Kohei Yamakawa
Networking Coordinator in Los Angeles
Kohei started his career as an announcer and DJ in Los Angeles in 1999. He is president of Team J Station, the only 24-hour Japanese radio broadcasting company outside of Japan. Kohei assists Fukuoka companies exhibiting at trade shows and conventions and leverages his vast network in Southern California to arrange business tours on the West Coast.
Himi Okajima
Networking Coordinator in New York
Himi is the owner of Hakata Tonton, a Michelin-rated restaurant in New York City and the leader of Kyushu Samurai no Kai, one of the largest and most active business networking groups in Fukuoka and Kyushu. Himi supports FCOCA by connecting Fukuoka companies to opportunities in the US market.
